Snow in Florida??

Growing up in Ohio, I am used to snow and cold. However, we moved when I was sixteen and I've been back to the snow twice since. I don't appreciate the cold and if it's below sixty degrees, I am very cranky. 

But raising kids in Florida, they don't get the chance to play in snow. I remember putting layers and layers of clothes on and going outside to build a snowman or throw snowballs. It didn't happen often but those are core memories of my childhood. 

Amazon sells fake snow and I used it a few years ago for holiday sessions. Which didn't work: people in shorts and t-shirts throwing snow looks super strange. 

But it was 34 degrees on Christmas. So, we made the fake snow and put on jackets and jeans and went outside. 

Those of you not in Florida, there is this funny thing that happens when it gets 40 degrees or less. We have to find real shoes and put away the flip flops. We put on more layers than our Northern friends and family and we are almost immobile because we can't seem to function in such conditions. Hurricanes-no problem. Cold weather? Nope. 

 There was a lot of laughter and chasing and big smiles. I hope that when they go back to school, they talk more about the snow day than about the presents.
