Teenagers, Tides & Togetherness: A Sunset Family Session on Anna Maria Island

There’s something really special about photographing families with teenagers—especially at the beach. Life moves fast during these years. Schedules are packed, milestones fly by, and family time can start to feel rare. That’s why this session on Anna Maria Island meant so much—not just to the family, but to me, too.
They were on vacation together, which in itself is a big deal when you’ve got teens. Everyone had a chance to slow down, breathe in the salt air, and reconnect. I watched them laugh, tease, and walk barefoot along the shoreline as the sun dipped low behind them. It was beautiful in the most honest way.
What I loved most was how this session captured who they are right now—in this season of almost-grown kids who still sneak in a hug, still crack jokes with their parents, and still light up when they feel seen. These are the moments that can be hard to get in everyday life, but out here, with the waves and the breeze and no distractions? They just happened.
Anna Maria Island is pure magic for this. Its soft white sand, pastel skies, and peaceful vibe let everyone loosen up. No stiff poses, no pressure—just a chance to be yourselves. We created photographs that feel as real and vibrant as their connection, and I know they’ll treasure them long after the vacation is over.
If you’re planning a family getaway with your teenagers, this is your reminder to press pause and capture the now. Because as much as we joke about how fast they grow up, it’s not a joke. These days are precious, and they’re worth remembering.
